FINAL - “Say it once, say it again”


Taking inspiration from the crafted flowers Joy passed out, I decided to add my own twist on the concept and shift it into a performance piece. I crafted a total of sixteen paper flowers to be given out during my presentation, which I will allow people to grab on their own, choosing whichever they like. Afterwards, I’ll invite them to a minute or two of considering their struggles during finals week and how they feel now that they’re almost done with the semester - This is a project consisting of mostly playfulness, with a moment given for consideration.

I painted strips of thick paper with a mix of acrylic and water, then using textured scissors to cut into strips and glue around twigs to give the appearance of a 3D flower. 


This project has been the most time-consuming one yet, second to my three perspectives video. Yet, I found myself enjoying it while creating it in the presence of several of my other peers. I was absolutely exhausted by the end of it, finishing in the crafts studio around roughly 1:20 AM, but I had a lot of fun doing it.

The project was to recreate someone’s lost childhood object by their verbal description alone. I made this imitation of a pointe shoe by memory using cardboard-like material, tape, paint, fabrics, ribbon, thread and glue.  Project four - Measuring Histories  For this project, I confronted the topic of my own personal history through childhood struggle - and put it into a canvas where it connects and almost merges into a source of great comfort. The paint: The paint is comprised of fruit punch soda, of which I mixed with multiple different medias to acquire different shades of red and pink. This dually represents the struggle of surviving off nothing but junk food, and the comfort of food or soft drink to combat stress at such a young age. The bear: The teddy bear is the focal point of the artwork. Drawn with pen and gold paint marker, it is supposed to symbolize a concrete thing that sticks no through every struggle no matter what or where it is.. which is also supported by the text above it. Vinyl cutouts of the original soda bottle label are glued to the paper to further connect it’s origin to the fruit punch soda.
